Novice & Beginners Rnd 7

A cool but bright day met the marking out team on Post Hill yet the road in was it's usual state. This is getting addressed in the coming weeks courtesy of the club and not the council!
As bikes barked into life, the unfamiliar sound of an 80cc to our events pierced the air as the 4th generation rider of a family well involved with West Leeds turned a wheel on Post Hill for the first time. Off went Nigel and Howard to plot 1 to 5 while John, Gregs x2 and Joah went in the opposite direction to plant flags for sections 6 to 10.
The sections seemed about right with a good spread of scores across all courses. Adam Wests journey from Scunthorpe was rewarded with the only clean ride. The classic clubs Tony Calvert took the 50/50 win on his Cub and Ben Ashton on a very tidy twinshock Yam topped the easy course.
This is the last N&B for this year, we hope to see you all next year or on Boxing Day if your ability allows.

WEST LEEDS CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS

Novice & Beginners Rnd 6

On Thursday evening it was looking likely that we may have to cancel the event. Friday saw a flurry of over 20 entries so it was game on.
A cool but dry day with the sun poking it's head through the many trees was to greet the marking out crew. What also met us was the gate not locked from the last event! Could have been interesting!
Anyway, Simon went off with Howard to be told where to put flags. While Nigel and Greg put all the flags in to confuse John. Section 8 anyone?
After the mid week down pour, Post Hill was surprisingly dry and grippy. Relatively low scores indicated that the marking out team got the sections pretty much spot on.
We hope you had an enjoyable afternoons ride around and you'll join us for the final event on the 26th of this month.

Steve Walker Trial

After a dry but breezy day on the Saturday setting out. we were met with a another dry and breezy day on Sunday.
Will Tolson triumphed on the Championship course with the loss of just three marks from Elliot Laws who kept his feet firmly on the pegs but a coming together with a flag saw him add a 5 to his score.
Paul Kettlewell was the man to beat on the 50/50 whilst Howard Gulley was the top of the tree on the Clubman course.
well done to everyone and thank for your support. Big thanks to the observers who withstood the biting wind. It did help that the riders weren't hanging around and we were all wrapped up for two!

Luskys Leadmine Challenge

Just two riders from WLMC took on this challenge and they are to be congratulated on completing 17 laps between the two of them! The two WLMC hero's are pictured below during the event.

Greg Kershaw on the left looking steadfast and Simon Cassidy on the right looking as though he was enjoying a joke!

Novice & Beginners 5th Roundnews

A reasonable day for this the 5th round of this years series. Some sunny spells for the helpers to mark out the course. Nigel, Howard, Simon and Jeff were joined by club treasurer, Ben Ludgate who had dragged himself out of bed, the popular explanation being he needed to test out the new bike! However all these members did observe as well, so we had a full complement. Thanks to all those members and thanks to the riders who supported the event. Apologies for the delay with the results, a bit of a computer hiccup!

Stan Pitts trial report news

After spending all day Saturday, digging, shifting, plotting, riding and planting flags. 14 sections were waiting for the Stan Pitts trial.
We were rewarded with nearly 40 entries Some say this is a shame for the kind of trial this is. However, just to keep this fantastic piece of land in use keeps us going. Hardly June weather was on the agenda with brief rain showers and small chinks of sunshine. I say brief, hardly any! We were over run with observers and were very thankful that every section was marshalled.
It seemed the sections got a little harder as the day wore on, so, those that got off early probably had the best of the going.
One thing that Halton Gill offers is a good ride around. So, a simple section becomes an arduous task when arm pump has set in on the third lap. Danny Gamble was the top dog with Dave Petty topping the clubman A and riding an immaculate 90's Gas Gas Anthony Ayrton was triumphant on clubman B with Paul Gravlstock keeping him on his toes with another retro ride on the twinshock Fantic. We hope you all enjoyed yourself and tell your friends for next year....
