Stan Pitts Trial

A fairly depleted entry list for this year's running of the Stan Pitts Trophy Trial. Richard Sadler just getting the better of Dan Thorpe by a 3 mark advantage took the premier award.

On the Clubman A route it was Katy Sunter who had a 2 mark advantage over second place taking the award for best 50/50 rider.

On the Clubman B route Phillip Hammond had a clear margin to take the win on this route.

Mixed weather for the duration of the trial. Sunny intervals and the odd light shower, fairly windy throughout, but a heavy shower after the event drenched the officials who were still clearing up.

Stan Pitts Trophy Trial

Other News news

Novice & Beginners Trial

The king of Post Hill has been toppled from his perch! Going round the main route for a loss of only 1 mark Chris Hirst took the win from second place Paul Kettlewell who lost 3 single dabs. Paul has won the previous 3 rounds.

A fairly overcast day to start with, but dry. The sun did shine later during the event making the temperature pleasant.

On the 50/50 course and never quite mastering the tricky tenth section losing 9 of his 13 marks here; Matthew Morrel's score of 13 was still good enough to take the win on this route.

What must be a first for Post Hill at least; we had a female competitor losing least marks on the Beginners route and riding a pre 65 bike! Katie Ward dropped just 8 marks to take the win on this route.

Steve Walker Memorial Trial

A disappointing entry of just 46 riders for this year's Steve Walker Trial. A dry day up above Skipton, but with a cold wind on some of the exposed sections. Harry Hemingway beating all the family members and going round clean on the 42 sections.

The Clubman A route best performance was Anthony Ayrton who had a 6 mark margin over the second placed rider, Paul Kettlewell.

On the Clubman B route it was West Leeds member Jeff Prior who just got the better of another West Leeds member, Stuart Oughton.

Special Award

In recognition of his 60 year service to the White Rose Trial; long time club member Paul Whitaker was presented with a plaque. Seen here being presented by club president John Kershaw (the tall one). During this 60 years Paul has held various roles which were:

Clerk of the Course
Asst CoC
Event Secretary
Chief Marshall
Asst Event Secretary

Time Keeper

Award was donated by Gordon Carr.

The March of Time

As time passes we all get older even West Leeds club officials, hard to believe – right!

Some of our officials are well past retiring age and we now need some computer whizz kid to start learning the ropes of the stuff our present trials secretary deals with – basically results, preparing event paperwork etc. Various systems are in place which without any instruction our present club officials would find unfathomable!(no disrespect). Are you up to the challenge? Do you know anything about spreadsheets, are you computer literate? We would love to hear from you!
